Bringing Light to a Syrian Family
Among the widely available commodities in the Western world that are often taken for granted, electricity may be the most significant. Most of us do not have to pay great consideration to turning on the living room lights or our kitchen appliances properly functioning. Electricity is an essential component of daily life yet one that is seldom thought of beyond paying a monthly electric bill. Its value is perhaps never better appreciated than when its presence is at threat.
While most Western countries enjoy widespread access to electricity, many communities in the Middle East, especially in Syria, struggle immensely with basic aspects of daily living due to the palpable void of its reliable presence. One particular family in Syria, comprising two parents and their adult daughter, are silently struggling. The father and mother are elderly. Their 30-year-old daughter does her best to care for them. However, without electricity, light, or warmth, particularly in the frigid winter months, every day is harder than the last. The mother suffers from Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Disease, adding a layer of complexity to their already challenging lives.
Unheard Cries is partnering with on-ground representatives in Syria to help bring the gift of light to this struggling family. The aim is to supply them with a full solar system that will alleviate the weight they carry, which will cost $1,210. This includes four solar panels ($90 each), an inverter ($250), and a battery ($600). Your generous donations can help bring light, warmth, and hope to a family in great need.
